This year I am starting a new way of documenting and sharing my ideas about history and writing. As a teacher, there are some topics that I explain to multiple classes. This might be some specific historical content, such as “what is social history?”, or it might be a generalized technique, such as “how to I write a conclusion that is not the same as my introduction?” Previously I provided this information directly to students, either in class or through course materials. But this year I’m going to start sharing some of these ideas through this blog.
The students will be able to access the information here, but eventually others may find themselves here as well. These will be my own ideas, so I hope that by turning this into a public conversation, others might connect and off their own ideas. I hope to get some feedback, since I don’t have the final word on these things, and I hope that they can improve over time through feedback and revision.
