Sample educational experiences

Public History

Drawing on my own experience working for history and art museums, I created a partnership with the Ohio History Connection to allow Otterbein University students to learn about public history by curating part of the exhibition Ohio—Champion of Sports.

Professional Development

I have delivered workshops and keynote addresses to professional development institutes for K–12 teachers conducted by Primary Source in Watertown, MA. I have also helped develop university general education curriculum and assessment.

Digital Humanities

I participated in a 2-year grant program for online humanities teaching through the Council for Independent Colleges. Also, my students at the University of New England contribute virtual objects to our online Museum of Human Traditions.

Adult Learning

I have taken graduate coursework including instructional design, adult learning theory, and project management. I have also delivered community presentations on American history, U.S.–Mexico relations, and contemporary Native American issues such as sports mascots and the Dakota Access Pipeline.
