History Education Experience
Experiential Learning
My students engage in hands-on learning experience in and out of the classroom. This has included a travel course to the Rosemont Sioux Reservation; a student-designed exhibit for the Ohio History Center; news articles written under the supervision of the editor of the Maine Monitor, replicating historical science experiments in the classroom, and more.
DIGITAL HUMANITIES
My own background in digital humanities includes participating in a 2-year grant to foster teaching the humanities online, and I currently work for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning to support ePortfolio use at UNE. My students have created digital collections and exhibitions in Omeka and used ArcGIS to map historical monuments.
Curriculum and Instructional Design
I have led the development of university curriculum and assessment, led professional development for K-12 teachers, and earned a graduate certificate in instructional design.
Adult Learning
I have taken graduate coursework on adult learning theory, and I have delivered community presentations on American history, U.S.–Mexico relations, and contemporary Indigenous issues such as sports mascots and the Dakota Access Pipeline.
